tk’s top 10 albums of 2008

The War on Drugs, the 4th best band that you're not listening to.

My 2008 list and I get along well. We still do.

It featured a few more obvious picks like Fleet Foxes, TV on the Radio, and Bon Iver and a few overlooked gems from The War on Drugs, Plants and Animals, and The Week that Was. It also featured a few 80s throwbacks in the form of M83 and Cut Copy and the album that you’ll dig out 20 years from now and call a masterpiece, Shearwater’s Rook. Even Randy Newman made the cut for his solid release, Harps and Angels, in which he reminded the music world that he’s still ‘got it.’

2009 is next!

1. The War on Drugs – Wagonwheel Blues
2. M83 – Saturdays=Youth
3. Fleet Foxes (self-titled)
4. Shearwater – Rook
5. TV on the Radio – Dear Science
6. Plants and Animals – Parc Avenue
7. Randy Newman – Harps and Angels
8. The Week That Was (self-titled)
9. Bon Iver – For Emma Forever Ago
10. Cut Copy – In Ghost Colours

I’m jealous that you got to include TV on the Radio. I would do all these lists over if I could, but that’s one of the most glaring omissions for me, personally right now. From February – July, that was one of my most-listened-to albums this year.
